The Reality Of Reality Television - 1892 Words

Reality television has always been a fun pastime for Americans but when Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired the media, fashion, and America would never be the same. The first episode was aired in October of 2007 and was based around Kim Kardashian (Tikkanen). Kim Kardashian was the face of the show because she had recently had a sex taped released, which was making her the â€Å"it† girl at the time and the sex tape helped her family land the reality show (Tikkanen). The show showcases Caitlyn Jenner formerly know as Bruce Jenner, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloà © Kardashian, Robert Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Scott Disick. The entire family is attracted to drama and confrontations but Scott Disick and Robert Kardashian added a different dimension to the show because they openly talk about their struggles that they face internally. Robert, also known as Rob, Kardashian is the youngest of the Kardashians and the only boy that Kris Jenner had. He is now 29 years old and engaged to Blac Chyna who he has only been dating for three months now (Rob). The show portrays many sides of Robert Kardashian but for the past three years, the viewers have seen a completely different Rob from the beginning of the show to now. During the course of the show Rob stays in a depressed mood, struggles with weight gain, is stuck in his career, and could not find his own voice in comparison to his sisters.
