Rhetorical Essay Topics - The Power of Using Real Life Situations

Rhetorical Essay Topics - The Power of Using Real Life SituationsThis semester I've been getting a lot of questions about rhetorical situation essays. Some teachers ask their students to write some essays on this topic, which are really quite simple. All they need to do is explain to you how the topic is used in various contexts and when and why they're appropriate to use.Okay, so this may seem like I'm getting into the weeds, but I'm just trying to explain how you use this idea, and how it can apply to a lot of different situations. The problem that I have with the 'situation' essay is that it's generally misconstrued by students as being 'I'm going to tell you all about the times my situation was the best ever'. It's actually much more complicated than that.In real life situation means that you experienced an opportunity to learn or do something, a chance to rise above the ordinary and that you seized the opportunity. It's when you get the most out of your situation that you are de fined as having a good situation. For example, let's say that you're working at McDonald's and you have a coworker who is quitting. You feel bad about this because you are very close to this person and you worked hard for him or her, but in the end he or she decided that they wanted to try something else. So now you have a real situation: you have a coworker who is leaving, but now you don't know where you stand. Now you should think about this situation a little more, because this is where the good situation essay comes in. What if you had a fantastic boss? What if you were talking to your boss at lunch about this situation and you did it without a problem, and you thanked your boss profusely for making you the employee that you are? This is where your Rhetorical Situation comes in. You made the most out of your situation by using your situation and what it gave you. Not only did you make the most out of the situation, but you also gave yourself permission to think outside the box, to make a difference and be the best that you can be.This is why it's so important to structure your essay correctly, and to only use 'real life situations' in your Rhetorical Situation. There are a lot of situations that could fit this description, but it's only because they haven't been utilized by students who study rhetoric in class. Remember that this is your life, your experiences, and you are in control of your own Rhetorical Situation.I hope that I've given you something to think about and some insight into the topic of your choice that you need to take on board. I really like 'Rhetorical Essay Topics - The Power of Using Real Life Situations'. Thanks for reading!
